Restaurant: Chongqing Lao Zao
Location: 37-04 Prince St, Flushing, NY 11354
Vibe: The place was crowded, cozy with tiny spaces to walk in between tables and stairs. The decoration was nice and felt antique asian style.
Menu: You have the physical menu and a digital one you can scan the qr code. This place is not all you can eat btw.
Ordered Items: 3 Type of soup (tomato, mushroom, and spicy with medium level) Toppings: sliced beef, pig brain, beef intestines, tofu puffs (fried tofu), crab meat, crown daisy, potato noodles, noodles, tofu sheet, cilantro beef balls, shrimp paste, white radish and brown sugar pudding for dessert.
Presentation: Normal, nothing special since its hot pot.
Taste: When you first come inside, there’s this spicy smell that I personally like, the spicy soup was nice although I would prefer the one level up (next time), their tomato soup was different from other places I’ve been to, it has this tomato pasta sauce taste which I liked a lot, their mushroom soup was also really flavorful with tons of mushroom. Except for the soup, there were some ingredients I could not find here that other places have that I enjoy eating it usually, such as fish tofu. Their sauce selection was wide compared to other hot pot places (personally it did not bother me since I always get the same simple sauce).
Service: One of the best service I could get in a place that is not michelin star, the server was very attentive constantly asking if we needed something, changing our plate for cleaner one, bringing more broth every time we go low, cleaning our small trash, they even brought a bag to keep our coats to not get food smell, apron and other amenities.
Price: $143.05 + tip $32.95 = $176 (cash)
Overall Experience: Pretty good, service 9/10, taste 8.5/10.
Comments: If you are going to order the mushroom soup, I recommend skipping on the mushroom toppings cause it comes with enough mushroom inside the soup already (enoki and shiitake)

4 out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
