Restaurant: Okdongsik (옥동식)
Location: 43-13 Bell Blvd, Bayside, NY 11361
Vibe: Cozy ambiance with a modern style of interior, very clean and minimalistic feel, perfect for a calm lunch/dinner time.
Menu: A very simple menu with 5 dishes, with their main specialty gomtang (meat broth soup)
Ordered Items: Pork Gomtang, Lard Donkatsu, Ebi Katsu & Kimchi dumplings
Presentation: Their signature main Gomtang stood out for being very clear crisp compared to other gomtangs, it gave me the vibe of eating healthy
Taste: The gomtang was really good, very light and healthy, it was definitely not lacking in flavors, although it looked plain, their sliced pork had no typical musky/odor that you find in old pork meat or wrongly prepared. Their food overall tasted good, and not too strong in flavors, it felt like it had no MSG, which is good for the after taste.
Service: The server was attentive, not too overly on top of you asking what you need every 2 seconds, definitely balanced with a good sense of service.
Price: $56.63 + tip ($13) = $69.63 (cash)
Overall Experience: Pretty good, service 9/10, taste 8.5/10.
Comments: The gomtang itself is a very plain dish, so do not expect anything too flavorful or too out of the normal, perfect for those who like healthy and with less sodium dishes. Because the place is cozy and has a very small selection, it is easier to focus on the service and maintain the quality of foods.
